What do you need to take with you?

Sleeping bag (unless you booked a duvet; we provide pillow, pillowcase and fitted sheet), towel (unless you booked towels), toiletries, shoes with rubber soles, water- and windproof clothing (apart from the rain, sometimes there is sea splash). Furthermore, what you think you need. Use a bag for your belongings, not a suitcase, suitcases take up more space on board.

The environment

Berth Spes Mea

The Spes Mea is moored in the Zuiderhaven opposite house number. 24.

Route to the Zuiderhaven

Coming from the south (A7): On the N31 towards Harlingen, take the Kimswerd exit. Then at the small roundabout turn left and pass under an overpass. After the overpass turn right. Now you see the dike to your left, driving parallel to the N31 which is to your right. At the end of this road, there is a railroad crossing, turn right on the other side of it. Then take the first street on the left and again the first street on the left. Now you are at the Zuiderhaven.

Coming from the east (A31): On the A31 take the exit Harlingen-Havens. On your right you will first see the industrial area and then the ferry terminal of Doeksen. Going on you drive across a bridge, on the other side of it turn right. Then you drive across a second bridge, turn left directly at the end of it. Now you are at the Zuiderhaven.

Parking

After taking your luggage aboard, you can park your car. There are several parking lots in Harlingen you can use.

There are several options for parking, these are the top 3:

1) If you come sailing for a weekend: park at the parking lot on the Spoorstraat (near the Steenhouwersstraat). Park your car there on Saturday morning and pay the maximum daily rate. (€ 10,- Sunday is free). Walking distance.

2) All-in Parking, Oude Trekweg 86. costs € 6 per day, including a taxi to and from Zuiderhaven. First bring your luggage on board, we will then arrange that all cars of the Spes Mea passengers go to this location in 1 time.

3) Bruine Vloot Parking lot, Westerzeedijk next to the Aldi. Book 24 hours in advance via this site: https://www.parkerenharlingen.nl/parkeerlocaties/bruine-vloot  Costs: € 7.25 per day. Within walking distance of the Spes.

Public Transport

Get off the train at the station Harlingen Haven. It takes about 5 minutes to walk to the harbour. Go down the stairs towards the city, then make a right before the bridge. At this quay you will find the ships after approx. 300 m. For more information check out the website of Arriva. From the station Harlingen Central the distance to the Spes Mea is about 1.2 km which is a 14 minute walk.

Your Dog

You may bring your dog, but you should inform us in advance. This is to prevent us from having 10 dogs aboard at the same time. On the sandbanks of the Wadden Sea dogs are not allowed to run without a leash and on the islands there are varying regulations.
